Ovulation Calculator

Want To Know When You're Ovulating?

Using an ovulation calculator is an excellent way to determine when you are ovulating, and therefore when you are most likely to conceive.

There are several ways to determine when you are ovulating, which have variable levels of accuracy.  One of the simplest ways is to use an ovulation calculator like the one on this site, which you can access by clicking here.

This kind of calculator works on the basis that ovulation generally occurs 14 days before the end of your menstrual cycle.  That is if you work from the first day of your period (i.e. when bleeding begins), and count back 14 days, that is when you are most likely to have ovulated.

Like anything, there are pros and cons to calculating things this way.  The most obvious 'pro' is that this method is really simple and quick.  The main 'con' is that is a bit too simple for some women - it doesn't work for people who don't follow the normal rules.

If you have a highly irregular cycle for example, this method may be too simple and may not accurately predict when you are actually ovulating.

Other methods of calculating when ovulation occurs take into account the hormone levels circulating in your system.

These levels can be measured indirectly through both your urine and saliva.  You can of course also use blood tests, but this is generally reserved for once you have seen a fertility specialist.
