Ovulation Calendar
An Ovulation Calendar is essentially the same thing as an ovulation
calculator, although some would say that a calendar may take more factors into account.
Ovulation is of course a complex process, directed by complicated hormonal cycles and 'carried out' by your
ovaries primarily, and to a lesser extent your fallopian tubes, uterus etc.
A simple ovulation calculator such as the one on this site works on the basis that the timing relationship
between ovulation and getting your period is constant for most women, largely irrespective of the length of their
cycle.

That means that for most women, ovulation will occur around 14 days before the first day of their period,
whether they have a 26 day cycle, 28 day cycle or 30 day cycle.
It is of course a simple guide that doesn't take into account any individual factors that may affect a given
women. If you have an irregular cycle in particular, the accuracy of this kind of calculator is certainly
diminished.
Other Signs Of Ovulation
Other signs that can be encorporated into an ovulation calendar (or calculator) are things such as basal body
temperature, cervical mucus and even cervical position.
The basal body temperature tends to vary with different times in your menstrual cycle, and a certain
characteristic spike in your temperature can be used to track ovulation.
Your cervical mucus also changes with your menstrual cycle, and attains it's own characteristic appearance
around ovulation, again adding a clue that you are ovulating and most likely to conceive.
The cervical position is a subjective measure, and so one less commonly used, but there are changes in the feel
and position of your cervix throughout your cycle that can help you pinpoint ovulation.
